Morley-IAS by Honeywell Gets Top Marks for Fire Safety at New Schools in the Highlands as Part of Public Private Partnership Initiative

BAR-TEC Fire Security Systems install ZXSe and Dimension fire safety panels at three Highland Council schools and ongoing refurbishment programme with NHS Highland.
Morley-IAS and distribution partner BAR-TEC Fire & Security Systems have continued their recent strong track record of success, with three major installations in new schools as part of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative in conjunction with design consultant, Wallace Whittle and The Highland Council.
As part of the programme, BAR-TEC has installed Morley-IAS Dimension control panels in Inshes Primary School and Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis and a Morley-IAS ZXSe-based system in the larger Drummond School in Inverness, which caters for children with severe learning difficulties.
"The Morley system was specified as its open protocol, future-proof technology will be able to easily accommodate any future expansion," confirms Phil Barclay, general manager, BAR-TEC.
"At the same time, in our experience Morley systems have proved extremely intuitive and reliable, with its easy-to-use safety panels ideally suited to those environments in which security and facilities management staff are looking after multiple sites."
In all three schools, BAR-TEC has also installed a public address/voice alarm (PAVA) system. "By combining with the school's period bell and music systems, this provides a highly cost-effective integrated solution," says Barclay. "At the same time, the high quality voice system ensures that emergency messages are easily understood by students, staff and visitor, enabling a rapid and orderly evacuation."
Working with NHS Grampian and installing Morley-IAS panels as part of an ongoing programme of systems upgrades, BAR-TEC has also recently completed a Morley-IAS DX4-based fire safety system at the Medical Centre in Elgin, again including a Morley-IAS PAVA system. Work is also due to start later in 2009 on installing a ZXSe panel in the NHS hospital in Forres.
BAR-TEC also has the ongoing maintenance contract in the case of both the education and healthcare installations. "We have had a great deal of success working with such public sector organisations as The Highland Council and NHS Grampian," says Barclay. "This is because the robustness and flexibility of the Morley panels has proved especially important in life safety environments involving large numbers of young children or the physically incapacitated," he believes.
BAR-TEC has more than seven years' experience working closely with Morley-IAS and other recent successful installations have included The Highland Council's new Highland Archive and Registration Centre at Inverness and the nearby National Trust for Scotland's Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre on the outskirts of Inverness. "Customers benefit from an excellent working relationship, in which Morley's superior product quality and reliability is backed up by BAR-TEC's equally high level of consultancy and support."
