Integrated Morley-IAS ZXSe system provides state-of-the-art fire protection at Carlisle youth centre.

Carlisle Youth Zone, host to Radio One's weekend breakfast show earlier this year, has selected a Morley-IAS by Honeywell system to provide full fire protection as part its £5 million state-of-the-art development.

The club, which welcomed DJ Vernon Kay ahead of Radio One's Big Weekend festival in Carlisle, is designed to serve the social, recreational and emotional needs of young people in the area out of school hours.

Working with main contractor Keir Construction, Morley-IAS partner Converged Solutions has installed a networked system including a ZX2Se main fire panel, a repeater panel and both optical and heat detectors, designed to minimise false alarms at the multi-purpose youth facility.

Converged Solutions has an established track record of success with Kier Construction in implementing Morley-IAS fire safety systems. "Morley-IAS is recognised as the ideal open protocol analogue addressable solution which easily interfaces with other building management systems, including access and security," confirms Paul Parkes, director at Converged Solutions.

"Morley-IAS equipment provides the high level of robustness essential for such hard-working environments. At the same time, the panels are easy for maintenance staff to operate and offer a sophisticated ‘Cause and Effect' matrix, which ensures controlled evacuation and that relevant third-party equipment is shut down in the event of a fire-related incident."

The Youth Zone provides a place for young people and those who work with them to come together in a welcoming, inclusive environment and provides a wide range of activities, including a sports and fitness centre and café.
